Location: Stockton, CA. This is an on-site position. Not eligible for remote or hybrid work schedule.

 

JOB OVERVIEW:

Digital NEST is an innovative workforce development center that has welcomed thousands of youth from working-class, farmworker communities to develop the technical and professional skills they need to achieve their dreams. It is an exciting time for the NEST. We are focused on growth and expansion to five communities across the Monterey Bay (MBR) and San Joaquin Valley (SJVR) Regions in Northern California. Digital NEST has Centers in the heart of Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy, Modesto, and Stockton.

 

The Member Specialist is responsible for owning the in-center member experience. This role ensures that every young person who walks into the Center feels welcomed, supported, and clearly guided through their participation at the NEST. The Member Specialist plays a critical role in member retention, engagement, and data accuracy, ensuring daily Center operations run smoothly and that member participation is consistently tracked and supported.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Member Experience & Engagement (40%) 

  • Serve as the first point of contact for members, families, and visitors entering the Center.
  • Support new member onboarding by executing established membership processes, including tours, forms, and consent documentation.
  • Support member retention by identifying disengagement or attendance issues and flagging them appropriately.
  • Greet members by name and foster positive, professional relationships that encourage ongoing participation.
  • Answer member questions and provide clear guidance on Center norms, programs, events, and schedules.
  • Promote Center programs and events through in-person engagement and digital communication tools including posting to social media channels.
  • Reinforce expectations around safety, respect, and positive community behavior.
 

Front Desk Operations & Data Integrity (35%)

  • Ensure all members and visitors are accurately checked in and out using Digital NEST systems.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time attendance and engagement data in Airtable, Asana, and related tools.
  • Track daily participation and contribute to monthly Center reporting and dashboards.
  • Manage Center calendars, including room reservations and internal scheduling.
  • Respond to general inquiries (phone, email, in-person) and route requests as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date member-facing signage, program collateral, and front-desk materials.
  • Complete assigned tasks and follow-ups using Digital NEST task management systems.
 

Center Operations  & Space Support (25%)

  • Support daily Center operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with room setup and breakdown for programs, events, and community use.
  • Monitor the Center environment to ensure it remains clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Observe and report facility, safety, or behavior-related concerns in a timely manner.
  • Support supply tracking, purchasing requests, and inventory management.
  • Assist with vendor coordination, maintenance requests, and facilities follow-up.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in customer service, youth engagement, hospitality, or front-facing community roles.
  • Experience working with youth and young adults ages 14–24.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Comfort working with data systems, calendars, and task management tools.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace; experience with CRM or attendance systems preferred.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Passion for the mission of Digital NEST and belief in upholding organization’s core values.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to issues of culture/ethnicity/race, gender, sexual identity, class/SES and immigration status. 
  • Ability to be an ally to people of color, women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning and intersex individuals and their allies (LGBTQIA). 
  • Must be able to travel and work evenings or weekends occasionally, or as needed.
  • Maintain dexterity and coordination, sufficient to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to perform administrative, computer-based tasks, to be mobile (including, but not limited to walking, bending, squatting, crouching, twisting, kneeling, reaching, etc.), and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 35 pounds as needed.
