LOCATION: This is an on-site position at the Gilroy Center

NOTE: This role will be eligible for full-time, 40 hours a week with full benefits, starting January 1, 2024.

 

JOB OVERVIEW:

Digital NEST is a workforce development center that has welcomed hundreds of youth from working-class, farmworker communities to develop the technical and professional skills they need to achieve their dreams. It is an exciting time for the NEST as we are on the precipice of expanding to a total of five communities across Northern California by the end of 2026. Digital NEST has centers in the heart of Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy and Modesto, and soon to be Stockton.

 

The Member Advocate reports directly to the Center Manager and will partner with the NEST leadership team to support positive center membership, program and marketing objectives. The Member Advocate’s goal is to create a welcoming environment and greet and engage with Members to ensure all guests and program participants have been digitally checked in to our NEST center accurately upon entering. The Member Advocate is responsible for general administrative work, such as compiling membership reports, room reservations, taking general inquiries and calls while directing Members, participants and visitors to appropriate NEST staff.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Member Engagement (40%) 

  • Answering Member questions.
  • Meet and greet Members (by name) and visitors in a positive and professional manner as a representative of the Digital NEST, creating a welcoming and safe environment.
  • Promote and invite Members to participate in engaging activities and events both verbally and via electronic communication platforms.
  • Assist communications and management of social media platforms.
  • Conduct Digital NEST tours to prospective Members by following established tour guidelines (when needed).
  • Executes established processes for finalizing all Digital NEST memberships (membership Tour Card tracking system, membership Form, and consent form,etc.)
  • Work towards self-development to stay current on Member engagement, customer service procedures and practices.
 

Operations (35%)

  • Assist and support the Center Manager in room/space set ups for all room/space rentals.  
  • Complete facility opening and closing procedures at the beginning and ending of each shift.
  • Assist program staff with space set-up for events to connect with youth.
  • Manage calendars for the center (Room Reservations and Programming Calendar).
  • Ensure Digital NEST center is clean, safe, and looking  aesthetically pleasing at all times. 
  • Monitor Members’ use of the NEST facility.
  • Identify and report concerns or problems to appropriate staff in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist with creating purchase orders for center supplies and other essential items.
  • Assist the Center Manager in reaching out to vendors, repair services, and utilities.
 

Front Desk Reception (25%)

  • Answer the telephone and perform various clerical duties.
  • Track and complete tasks using Asana, Google apps, and other task management sites. 
  • Attend all required department and organizational meetings as required.
  • Keep all “Member accessible” program/event collateral up-to-date.
  • Ensure all Members check in and out.
  • Contribute to the Monthly Programs Update Report with data entry and tracking of daily Member attendance resulting in the completion and submission of the report held by the Center Manager using the appropriate platform.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Customer Relationship Management platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience working with young adults ages 14 - 24.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Passion for the mission of Digital NEST and belief in upholding organization’s core values.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to issues of culture/ethnicity/race, gender, sexual identity, class/SES and immigration status. 
  • Ability to be an ally to people of color, women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning and intersex individuals and their allies (LGBTQIA). 
  • Must have a valid CA driver's license, pass a background check, and be able to travel and work evenings or weekends occasionally, or as needed.
  • Maintain dexterity and coordination, sufficient to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to perform administrative, computer-based tasks, to be mobile (including, but not limited to walking, bending, squatting, crouching, twisting, kneeling, reaching, etc.), and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 35 pounds as needed.

NOTE: The job offer will be contingent upon the successful completion and passing of a background check.
